Arsenal offer £6M for West Brom's Davies

tribalfootball.com - April 7, 2006

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is determined to prise Curtis Davies away from West Brom.

The Mirror says Wenger made a last-minute approach for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window.

And he has now made a new approach to West Brom for Davies, who joined from Luton for £3million last August.

Wenger was knocked back in January but has a £6m offer on the table - which may raise fresh doubts over Sol Campbell's future.

Wenger wants cover and a long-term successor for Campbell, 31, who has struggled with injury and walked out for a while in February.

Arsenal - Massive defender bid mooted

07 Apr 2006 09:56

Arsenal have been tipped to make a £6million summer bid for West Bromwich Albion defender Curtis Davies.

The former Luton Town ace has been in stunning form since joining the Baggies last summer, and has been given the captain's armband.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a top-class centre-back, and has also been linked with Everton's Joseph Yobo.

Davies has previously suggested he is happy at the Hawthorns and has no intention of leaving, but the lure of joining one of the Premiership's top clubs could prove too strong to resist.

In addition, if West Brom are relegated to the Championship, they may find a bid of £6million too good to turn down as they will inevitably have to restructure the club's finances.

Arsène Wenger is not interested in West Brom centre back Curtis Davies.

The 21-year-old has been in eye-catching form this season after signing from Luton last summer for £3million. Rumours have circulated Arsenal maybe about to swoop.

It turns out Wenger is not even interested in strengthening that position.

“I like him,” said the Arsenal manager, “but I have not bid for him. Anyway I will not buy a centre back.”

;) He He

Spar oss vittighetene..?

Tipper de har litt mer å fare med enn News Of The World f.eks.

Arsenal include Walcott in bid for West Brom's Davies

tribalfooball.com - July 13, 2006

Arsenal are ready to send teenager Theo Walcott to West Brom to seal a deal for defender Curtis Davies.

The Mirror says Walcott, who failed to get on the pitch after being named as a shock inclusion in the England World Cup squad, faces a battle for playing time with the Gunners.

And as the north Londoners step up their attempts to land Davies, seen as Sol Campbell's long-term successor, the 17-year-old wonderkid could come into the equation.

The possibility of the rocket-heeled youngster spending time on loan at West Brom has been discussed by both clubs.

An offer of £8m, plus Walcott on loan until the turn of the year could be a solution that would suit both parties.

Arsenal handed warning over Davies

"Curtis is not for sale," Robson told Sky Sports. "He's got a three-year contract with us and we want to make a good go at getting back out of this division and Curtis is a major part of that."

Walcott agent denies Arsenal loan exit

Theo Walcott will not be leaving Arsenal Football Club on loan this summer, according to his agent."I am in regular touch with Arsenal and there has never once been a suggestion of Theo going out on loan," Warwick Horton, Walcotts agent.

"Davies I like, but (the asking price of £10 million) is too high"
